Jim was born in Kansas City and raised in Houston, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas in 1968 with an MBA in Finance, Jim served as a financial consultant for Fortune 500 companies. He launched his mortgage career in Houston and found a venue for his expertise in mortgage and finance when he founded American Mortgage Team in Santa Fe in 1997. After working together for years, Jim and Ron Blessey merged their successful mortgage companies in 2005 to form AMERICAN CAPITAL MORTGAGE INC., the leading mortgage brokerage in Santa Fe.

Jim is an athlete who regularly competes in Triathlons and Running events. He enjoys biking and running and feels these activities add to his clarity in his everyday business dealings. He is known for his patience and intense attention to detail resulting in a level of trust appreciated by Realtors who refer their clients to him time and time again.

Jim and his wife, Scout, share their traditional hacienda in the northern hills of Santa Fe with their 3 dogs and 3 cats. They are active supporters in community endeavors, particularly The Santa Fe Animal Shelter. Their daughters, Courtney and Caroline live in Los Angeles.
